San Fernando Valley, CA – Andrew Lachman’s campaign for Assembly continued to pick up strong support as the Los Angeles Local Unions of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E) and the International Union of Operating Engineers (I.U.O.P.) Local 501 announced their endorsement of Andrew Lachman for Assembly for the 46th Assembly District.

“Andrew has shown an understanding of the issues of the entertainment workers face, and has worked to address these issues,” said Thom Davis, Business Representative for IATSE in the letter announcing the endorsement. “We believe that Andrew Lachman is the candidate who will best serve the members of the IATSE and the residents of the district.”

I.A.T.S.E. Locals represent a cross-section of workers in the entertainment industry, including grips, property craft persons, cinematographers, costumers and make-up artists, many of which both live and work in the entertainment-heavy 46th Assembly District, which includes Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Universal City and the Hollywood Hills.

Operating Engineers Local 501 Business Manager Chris Brown said in his letter that Lachman’s “commitment to working families” was a major factor in their decision to endorse his campaign.

IUOP Local 501 primarily represents engineers who are mechanics and survey operators in the heavy construction industry and public service sector, as well as stationary engineers who operate building complexes.

Andrew Lachman has also drawn the support of Laborers Local 300, Painters & Allied Trades Local 36, Plumbers Local 78 and raised over $120,000 to date in his race for the State Assembly.

“I am honored to have the support of IATSE and the operating engineers.” said Andrew Lachman, “These organizations are representative of the engines that drive the California economy, especially in the San Fernando Valley. I am proud to be an ally in their efforts to get California working again.”

“These endorsements are big” said Jerry Levey, with Levey, Lambert & Diener, an advisor for the campaign. “Andrew is now only candidate who has drawn broad labor support in this campaign. Getting California working again is going to be key, and Andrew has shown the right balance of public and private sector experience necessary to get the job done for the 46th Assembly District.”

Andrew Lachman served as the Consultant to the Joint Committee on the Arts for the California Legislature and is currently an Adjunct Professor in Business Law and Policy at Woodbury University in Burbank.
