Congressman Filner, Southern California Officials Endorse Andrew Lachman For State Assembly

ENDORSE ANDREW LACHMAN FOR STATE ASSEMBLY

San Fernando Valley, CA –Congressman Bob Filner today endorsed Andrew Lachman’s campaign for the California State Assembly’s new 46th District. The ten-term congressman, a founding member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, is renowned for his advocacy on behalf of veterans and the Filipino-American community, as well as his lifetime of work in civil rights and as an educator.

“Congressman Filner is a model public servant and dedicated policy leader who has never shied away from a fight,” said Andrew Lachman. “He led the charge to get Filipino World War Two veterans the recognition and benefits they were promised, and I thank him for his service and support.”

Congressman Filner currently serves as the ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Before his election to Congress, Filner was a university professor for over twenty years. Congressman Filner began fighting for civil rights 50 years ago, when, as a student at Cornell University, he joined the Freedom Rides and was arrested while protesting Jim Crow laws in Mississippi.

The Andrew Lachman for Assembly campaign also announced the following endorsements from Southern California officials:

The California State Assembly’s new 46th District is located in the San Fernando Valley and includes all or part of the communities of Lake Balboa, North Hills, Panorama City, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Toluca Lake, Valley Village, Valley Glen, and Van Nuys.

Andrew Lachman served as the Consultant to the Joint Committee on the Arts for the California Legislature and is currently an Adjunct Professor in Business Law and Policy at Woodbury University in Burbank. He is a member of the Democratic National Committee and served as President of the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats and Democrats for Israel.  He also serves as Senior Legal Counsel for a technology consulting firm in Woodland Hills, CA.
