About Me

At 41, Andrew Lachman has over 22 years of experience making a difference in his community at the state, local and Federal level by building bridges that lead to effective change in the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles.

Growing up the son of a pediatrician and a teacher, he was taught the importance of public service.

Linking Jobs, the Arts & Education

Currently an adjunct professor teaching business law at Woodbury University in Burbank, Andrew worked to increase opportunities for entertainment/creative sector jobs and funding for arts and public school arts education as the Consultant to the Joint Committee on the Arts for the California State Legislature.  He also served as a liaison to the LGBT, Persian and Orthodox Jewish communities.

He also has extensive experience in the private sector.  In the technology industry, Andrew was Vice President for Legal Affairs for Information Technology at Paramount Pictures and Corporate Counsel at OSI Consulting’s headquarters in Woodland Hills  and Move.com in Westlake Village, where he also served on the Advisory Board of the Congressional Internet Caucus.

Making our Communities Safer, and Better.

Andrew has worked in his community to reduce crime serving as a neighborhood council chair and public safety chair, bringing together community activists, school officials and law enforcement to address neighborhood problems and building up local programs to improve quality of life issues such as reducing graffiti, redressing community nuisances and finding reasonable, responsible consensus-driven approaches to transportation and development issues.  He also served on the Community Police Advisory Board for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Andrew has also pushed to make government more efficient and accountable as Vice President of the Los Angeles City Quality & Productivity Commission and serves on the Political Committee of the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter.  He is also a Truman Security Project Partner.

Serving the Community.

Andrew’s deep commitment to Los Angeles has lead him to be a tireless advocate for its many communities.

From serving as a member of the Democratic National Committee to past President of the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats and Secretary of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley, Andrew has been a proud supporter of common sense Progressive values, protecting working families, protecting the environment while growing business and improving education in California.

He served on Bet Tzedek Legal Services’ Justice Ball Committee, the ADL Legal Advisory Committee, the Jewish Labor Committee’s Los Angeles board and on the Young Leadership Board of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation.   He also served three terms as President of Democrats for Israel Los Angeles, advocating for Israel in the Progressive community.

Andrew has also worked as a straight ally to build bridges with the LGBT community, co-founding the Stonewall Young Democrats and serving as Political Director and Legislative Director for Stonewall Democratic Club as well as a fundraiser host for the Liberty Hill Foundation’s Advance Equality program.

He is married to Ingrid Moran Lachman, a non-profit fundraiser and graduate of UCLA.

He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School, where he served on the prestigious International Law Review and received his B.A. from American University
